A very cold north wind met 14 sidecar outfits on Sunday at the Dhoon Quarry for the 1st Peveril club round of 2008. The trial consisted of 8 sections set out in and around the quarry. 4 laps were reduced to 3 after taking almost 2 hours to complete the 1st lap as the section were also being use by the twinshock and novice solos.
Leading the way after the first lap were Flowers/Smith on 9, Kelly/Baxter 12, Teare/Birchall 13 and Smith/Smith 14. The lead was held by Flowers/Smith after the second lap dropping only 2, Smith/Smith 4, Kelly/Baxter 5 and Teare/Birchall 6. The lead changed after the 3rd and final lap due to a hefty lose of 11 for Flowers/Smith with both Smith/Smith & Teare/Birchall cleaning the lap and Kelly/Baxter only dropping 2 the final scores were Smith/Smith 18, Teare/Birchall & Kelly/Baxter both on 19 were Teare/Birchall getting 2nd place on a count back of cleans 18 to 15, leaving Flowers/Smith in 4th place on 22.
Grabbing the lead after the 1st lap in the clubman class were Baxter/Molyneux on 28 just pipping his brother Craig with new kid on the block Elliot Moore (taking after his father Trevor no doubt, well he was borrow his dad's gear) on 31 leading a tie behind them between Christian/Gurney and Hannay/Watterson both on 34. Baxter/Moore dropped 10 less on the 2nd lap as did Christian/Gurney and the pressure was on. On the final lap Christian/Gurney dropped the least marks which gave them the win over Baxter/Moore by 4 marks just 5 mark ahead of 3rd place Hannay/Watterson with Baxter/Molyneux in four place. Jason McNee finished the event on 92 but started the event with girlfriend Hilary Swan in the chair and finished the event with Stuart Bedford in the chair.
The club would like to thank landowners, officals and all observers braving the cold.
