Memorial Trial for Ffinlo Crellin Centre round 3
11th May 2008

The run around 3rd centre round trial started on a very bright and hot Sunday morning with 14 outfits (7 experts and 7 Clubman) signing on at Axenfell plantation car park.

The first group of sections were within Axenfell, containing 2 sections. Adrian and Aaron Smith look an early lead with cleaning both sections

The outfits then moved to Conrhenny plantation for another 2 sections, the first proving very difficult for the pack. However Adrian & Arron managed to pull though by dropping 1 mark over the big log, closely followed Jamie Teare & Jane Birchall dropping 2. after leaving Conrhenny plantation A & A smith left with only 3 marks dropped, whilst Jamie and Jane on 7 marks and joint 3rd Jonathon Kelly and Ealish Baxter and Gary Flowers and Anthony Smith all dropping 10 marks.

The road / track leading all the outfits along Honey Hill leading up to Clypse Moar Farm gave a smooth ride for the outfits before the next group of new sections.

The first group of sections in the top gully consisted of dry banks and trees. These sections proved very easy to the leaders due to the fact they didn’t drop any marks.

The trial then moved down to the bottom glen which the outfits rode 2 laps of 8 sections. These consisted of rivers, wet grass land and tree roots. After this group, Jamie and Jane dropped a further 8 with a total loss of 15 marks followed by A & A Smith dropping 18 marks giving a total loss of 22 on leaving this group of sections to head back to Conrhenny Plantation. This seen Jonathon and Ealish keep 3rd position and Gary and Anthony in 4th position dropping 42.

The last group was back at Axenfell were two new sections were set. To which only Jamie and Jane cleaned. This gave them a further advantage of their lead over the other outfits.

Clubman

The clubman rode very similar sections with slight variations. Craig Baxter and James Caine took an early lead after the first 2 groups on the new Scorpa outfit dropping 2 marks from Gerry Hannay and stand in passenger Chris Molyeux on 10 marks.
The welcome return of Dave Jeffs and Mum Passenger Julie slotted into 3rd Position with Brian Christian and Matt Swales 4th. After the end of Clypse Moar sections Gerry and Chris tried hard to catch Craig and James but this didn’t prove successful and the positions stayed the same until the end of the trial.
