The 2nd round of the Southern Motorcycle Clubs Sidecar club championship took place at Cronk Aashen last Sunday. With 7outfits signed on for a challenging trial. The trial was set out with 8 sections over 4 laps confined to the gully and river area. Due to weather from previous days this seen the trail to be very slippery, muddy and wet.

After Lap 1, Martin Kissack / Nigel Woods set the bench mark for 1st place with a loss of 6 marks, on the newly acquired Jamie Teare Gas Gas, 2nd position went to Dave Haynes / Wendy Brennan with a loss of 7 marks 3rd Mark Bimson / Jane Birchall loss of 8 marks and Gary Flowers / Ealish Baxter in 4th with a loss of 10 marks.
At the half way mark the lead had changed
1st Gary Flowers / Ealish Baxter with a loss of 16
2nd Mark Bimson / Jane Birchall with a loss of 22
3rd Martin Kissack / Nigel Woods with a loss of 26
4th Dave Haynes / Wendy Brennan with a loss of 37
The second half of the trial saw 2 river sections and 2 hill climbs and this sorted the postions out even further when the final hill climb section proved difficult for some more than others.
The Clubmen class followed the same route for the majority of the way with a few alterations on a couple of sections. An early lead was taken on the first lap by Craig Baxter and stand in passenger Ross Mc Cann with a loss of 7, closely followed by Jason Mc Nee and Luke Roberts on 8 marks and 3rd Gerry Hannay and stand in passenger Peter Hulme on the 4 stroke Beta with a loss of 8

At the halfway mark
1st Craig Baxter / Ross Mc Cann 10 marks lost
2nd Jason Mc Nee/ Luke Roberts 11 marks lost
3rd Gerry Hannay / Peter Hulme 18 marks lost
The second half of the trial saw the hill climb sections the same for everyone and Jason and Luke were the only crew to make it clean on section eight.

Many thanks to the observers, officials and Eddie & Gyln at Cronk Aashen Farm for their kind use of the land.
