The day started at Carnagrie with a good turn out of 12 outfits. 8 Experts and 4 Clubman.
The trial was set in out in such a way that things were going to be nip and tuck between the top 5 expert riders and that was the case.

The first set of sections at Carnagrie brought father and son team of Adrian and Aaron Smith to an early lead, leaving the 4 sections on clean, closely followed by James Caine and Chris Molyeux on 2 and 3rd position Adrian Beale and Jane Birchall, on 4 marks lost & a close 4th position Gary Flowers & Anthony Smith on 5 marks

The trail progressed on to the second group (Ballaspit Farm) having 4 sections that proved to take marks of the expert riders. The Smiths and Gary flowers certainly showed how it was done by only dropping one mark followed closely by part time rider Mark Bimson and Julie Owen just dropping 2

Moving on to the third group (Old Sawmills at laurel bank) 4 sections.
With Gary Flowers put the pressure on to the Smiths by losing a silly 1 mark in the last section the Smiths spoiled there punch card with first 5 of the day on section 11.On leaving these sections the Smiths were leading on 6,Flowers /smith 2nd on 7, Adrian Beale and Jane Birchall 3rd on 10 this give no room for error for the second half of the trial.

Moving on the forth Group (Eairy Beg Plantation) 5 sections.
Beale/Birchall teamwork showed an unmarked card for this group and tried to pull back some marks back on the others but with Bimson/Owen only losing 1 mark they still showed they haven’t lost it after having not roded for a long time.

Group five (White Strand) with 3 sections on the hillside Smithy and Flowers both lost no marks while Beale lost 5 marks on the last section there. Time was starting to press on at this stage and with a time limit finish of 5 hours & 35 minutes, time penalties were sure to occur, Gary Flowers had realised this and started to push ahead from the Smiths, thinking that this could change the end results and it nearly did.

Leaving Ballaquayle farm Adrian and Aaron Smith roded a steady clean through the last 5 sections and that certainly gave them first position with Gary Flowers and Anthony Smith second by 6 marks but the win was nearly there having pulled back marks occurred by time penalties.

Clubman
The clubman class followed a very similar route to that of the experts. With Gerry Hannay taking an early lead of 20 marks lost at the half way point followed by Dave Jeff and Matty Swales on 30 and Dougie Christian and Kevin Watterson on 37. Gerry Hannay and Paul Watterson rode well up until the entrance to White Strand were they hit bike trouble with the Beta and had a good lead of 14 marks on 2nd place men Jeffs
and Swales. They had no choice but to struggle on the last six sections to give away the first place and had to settle for second followed by Dougie Christian.
The club would like to thank all land owners, officials and observers for their help on the day.
